Rakhi Comes With a Receipt This Year: Thanks to Flipkart’s InvoiSIS

Flipkart’s Raksha Bandhan campaign, InvoiSIS, flips the traditional gifting script by spotlighting sisters’ everyday contributions. Through a Rakhi-themed invoice generator, it adds a humorous and heartfelt twist to sibling dynamics — pairing itemised favours with wishlists to make gifting more meaningful.

Flipkart has launched a witty and emotional campaign titled InvoiSIS just in time for Raksha Bandhan. A refreshing take on gifting that puts the spotlight on the unacknowledged efforts of sisters that is often goes unrecognized during the festivities.

While the tradition of Raksha Bandhan has long celebrated as the bond of love between brothers and sisters, typically marked by a rakhi and a gift, Flipkart’s new initiative flips the narrative. InvoiSIS cheekily asks: what if sisters could send an itemised invoice for all the times they’ve been there?

At the heart of the campaign is the InvoiSIS generator — a Rakhi-themed digital tool that lets sisters create detailed “invoices” listing their many everyday contributions. Whether it’s helping with homework, covering for late-night outings, or sharing clothes, accessories, and secrets, each item is given a value. The concept, developed in collaboration with renowned finance educator CA Rachana Ranade, cleverly ties emotional labor to a real-world price tag — and links it all back to a Flipkart wishlist.

Accessible via a dedicated microsite, www.invoisis4rakhi.com, the tool mimics the look of a classic Indian invoice pad. Users can select predefined “services” or customise their own entries, before attaching a Flipkart wishlist as a subtle nudge to their brothers. Categories featured include fashion, electronics, beauty, and more, nudging toward more thoughtful — and often higher-value — gifts.

Some invoices include quirky line items like “Therapist Services During Your Breakup – ₹999” and “Not Telling Mom You Failed a Test – ₹1,999.”

By turning gifting into a more personal and story-driven act, InvoiSIS encourages both thoughtfulness and spending — in equal measure. As Raksha Bandhan draws near, Flipkart’s latest campaign reminds us that behind every rakhi lies a series of unseen sacrifices. This year, sisters get to send more than just a thread — they get to send a bill.
